Well this is long overdue, but I’m sure you’ll all agree that I had good reason for the delay. On December 18th at ten minutes after midnight, Jaxon Eryk Woods was born. He was nine pounds, one ounce, and twenty-one inches long! Everything went well during delivery and everything’s going just fine at home. He’s happy and healthy!
While taking care of a baby is time consuming, it doesn’t seem as bad as I expected. Of course I don’t have to be up every few hours like my poor wife, but that will get better as he gets older and at least she has enough time off from work saved up to take a full twelve weeks off!
Being a father is a truly life-changing experience. I’m usually a very cynical person, but I’m completely serious when I say that when you look into the eyes of your first child, your life suddenly has a whole new meaning.

Congratulations. Children change lives forever. As my Aunt said before she died. As babies they are somewhat cute and cuddly. As toddlers they begin the challenge but it’s a controllable challenge. As preschools you say you can’t go wrong. As children your ability to reason begins to be tested. As teens they test your skills and endurance and no matter what you THINK may be it really isn’t. You feel like a taxi, worry yourself into sleeplessness and question WHY ME? As early adulthood approaches you get slid into the background and wonder if they really love and care about you? As they move on with their lives sometimes moving away you wait and wait and wait for the phone call, letter or email. Some sign they took a moment out of their busy lives to say they still care about you. As you begin the age your body begins to deteriorate you wonder will I still be around the next time they call. As you move into a care facility you begin wondering if they know where you are? Do they remember you? Yes children will change your lives forever.
